“Go inward. That’s the real work…the solutions are not outside of us. Get to know who you really are, because as you search for the hero within, you inevitably become one.” – Emma Tiebens
It is about that time again, time call it quits on our summer vacations and get back to our regular work routines. Are you wishing you had another week left of leisure and fun? Longingly looking at family photos posed on sun kissed cliffs or sandy beaches, all while a sting in the chest is telling you that there is a whole year until next time?
There is a wonderful way out of this stress, and it is called contentment. Cherishing and appreciating where you are at, and what you have accomplished.
Taking a moment to consider the life that you have created.
Many of us have had a vocation for a particular position that we once felt really good about. We worked hard to get there, studying for a degree, working long hours to show our dedication and to eventually move up. Along the way, we can sometimes forget that dedication and passion we once had for our jobs. It becomes routine and dull; or perhaps the opposite, we feel so stressed by always feeling the need to perform with excellence that we are treading in deep water and sinking by the second.
If you can relate to this, try to remember how far you have come. Commemorate all the work that lies behind you, how dedicated you have been and what you have created thus far.
Let your own work and journey to where you are now become the source from which you draw inspiration and power to fuel the coming year.
Often times, when we feel inadequate we tend to look outside, we turn looking for material things to fill the void, but in fact, we have everything we need within. We are enough as we are.
