Using affirmations to reprogram our brain

Fake It Until You Make It

I have heard that we have up to 65,000 thoughts a day. For many of us a big part of these thoughts are unconscious, and also negative. To be unaware of our thoughts makes them impossible to change. To hear these negative thoughts day in and day out, which we all carry around, makes us feel and act in a way that is not beneficial to us or our surroundings.

An affirmation is a positive statement about yourself or your surroundings.  To use affirmations and to work with them is a way to reprogram the way we think, feel and act. The best thing with an affirmation is that you need not believe them to be able to use them. Fake it until you make it!

How to get started a Mindfulness practice?

  1. Sit down for a few minutes every day where you can be alone and get peace and quiet.
  2. Write down everything and anything, whether you believe in it or not. Every sentence should start with I am. For example: I am beautiful, I am brave, I am grateful, I am love, I am confident, I am calm, I am humble, I am fearless, I am strong, I am capable, and so on.
  3. Say all the affirmations aloud or silently to yourself.


Now you are ready to face the day!

You will notice how uplifted you can feel, happy and positive. Sometimes you feel nothing at all and sometimes you will be present only to find yourself being scattered the next day.

Feel that it does not matter. Do it anyway and watch the change within. Good luck ?
